Lanthanides, also known as rare earth elements, comprise 15 metallic elements from lanthanum (La) to lutetium (Lu) in the periodic table. Known for their high magnetic susceptibility, excellent conductivity, and unique optical properties, lanthanides are widely used in modern technologies such as smartphones, electric vehicles, permanent magnets, lasers, and nuclear reactors. Despite their name, most lanthanides are relatively abundant in Earth's crust, but their extraction and separation can be complex due to their similar chemical properties.
