High-performance computing (HPC) and quantum chemistry are transforming the drug discovery process by enabling faster and more accurate simulations of molecular interactions. 

These technologies allow researchers to model complex biological systems and predict the behavior of drug candidates with unprecedented precision. 

As a result, the drug discovery timeline is significantly shortened, leading to quicker development of effective treatments for various diseases. 

Led by University of Melbourne theoretician and HPC expert Associate Professor Giuseppe Barca, a research team has achieved the first quantum simulation of biological systems at a scale necessary to accurately model drug performance.
